SINCE 2012

WE LOVE BODYSURFING

Everything at Ecto has grown from the love of riding waves with your body. From getting the most out of every swell to designing new handplanes that enhance the way bodysurfers enjoy riding waves.

In 2012, Chris Anderson launched Ecto out of his parents garage on the South Coast of NSW, Australia. Over the last 10+ years Ecto has created a range of sustainable bodysurfing handplanes that have helped ocean lovers get barrelled across Australia and all over the world.

In 2025, Chris won the IBSA World Bodysurfing Championship solidifying his name in the history books as a top bodysurfer.

1000 SURFBOARD GRAVEYARD

The idea to create Ecto Handplanes was born from upcycling broken surfboards from Chris' 1000 Surfboard Graveyard' project (2011-2013):

“1000SG highlighted the thousands of surfboards going to landfill each year. Ecto was an innovative way to recycle broken surfboards". –– Chris Anderson
